Living Proof of Skin Longevity: Mrs.Kim’s Metrin Story

Metrin Stories: Mrs. Kim (1924–2018)

Living proof — and thoroughly amused by it.
Mrs. Kim, had a way of telling stories that made people smile — usually with her, never at her.

She wasn’t afraid of aging.

She simply refused to do it poorly.

“No Way I’m Dying With a Lousy Photo”

After her husband passed suddenly, Mrs. Kim was left with one small regret — there hadn’t been a proper photograph of him for his funeral.

She decided that wasn’t going to happen to her.

So sometime later — already well into her 70s — she and a group of friends made a very practical, very Mrs. Kim decision: they would have their portraits taken in advance.

“No way,” she joked, “I’m going to die with a lousy photo.”

The portrait she prepared — the one she later shared with us — captured her perfectly: elegant, composed, and unmistakably youthful. People who saw it assumed she was in her 50s, not her 70s.

She found that deeply satisfying.

Youthful — and Enjoying Every Minute of It

Mrs. Kim knew exactly how she looked. And she enjoyed it.

During a hospital stay for heart-related issues, she became friendly with the nurses caring for her. One day, her son came to visit.

The nurses assumed he was her husband

When they later realized he was actually her son, they did a double take — not at him, but at her — and went back to her chart to check her age again

Mrs. Kim told that part of the story with a chuckle.

She especially enjoyed how much it annoyed her son.

Recovering in her hospital bed, she was delighted — not just that she still looked youthful, but that even medical professionals had to pause and confirm it.

When asked how, her answer was always the same.

Metrin.

Not dramatic.

Just matter-of-fact.

A Woman Who Knew What Worked

Mrs. Kim had tried many skincare products over the years, including well-known, expensive brands from Japan and North America. She appreciated quality, but she had little patience for promises that didn’t hold up over time.

She was introduced to Metrin in the 1980s through her sister in Los Angeles and later rediscovered it in Canada, where she had immigrated in the 1970s. Once she returned to Metrin, she stayed with it for the rest of her life.

She became a distributor not because she wanted a career, but because she enjoyed telling people the truth.

“All I have to do to sell Metrin,” she said, “is just tell the truth.”

Her skin did the rest.

Joy, Shared Generously

Mrs. Kim loved sharing Metrin. She passed out samples, explained the system patiently, and watched with quiet satisfaction as people noticed changes in their skin — just as she had.

Later in life, when she returned to Japan to live with her daughter, her Metrin ritual went with her. We continued shipping her products internationally. She never stopped using them.

Why would she?

She liked how she looked.

She liked how she felt.

And she liked that people noticed.

Living Proof — With a Smile

Mrs. Kim passed away on March 1, 2018, just days after her 94th birthday

She left behind more than a beautiful portrait or a glowing complexion.

She left behind a reminder that skincare doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful — and that the real joy of caring for your skin is enjoying the results, year after year.

She didn’t chase youth.

She took pleasure in longevity

And she was living proof — smiling the whole way.
